"Loomies" 2022

Towards Central Pier, by Derek King

North Fylde PS’s annual outing to “The Loomies” took place as usual, in mid-September this year. The weather was pretty wet, which always reduces numbers a little, but brings interesting new dynamics to the challenge of photographing Blackpool at night. Our attending members took some amazing photos on the night, some opted for long exposure images on tripods, while others worked handheld with fast lenses.

Loomies Night 2018

NFPS members brave the stormy weather, by Matthew Polke

Blackpool Illuminations are always spectacular, even on a stormy, rainy night. North Fylde’s annual trip out to the ‘loomies’ threw in some new obstacles this year as well as the usual challenges of night time photography. Wind and rain. However in the two hour gap between downpours the members who attended took advantage, and collected some wonderfully unique shots.

Once again Blackpool Operatic Players were kind enough to invite us to watch and photograph the dress rehearsal of their latest production, Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Night at the Illuminations 2017

Night at the Illuminations Group Photo, by Neil Pascoe

Our night at the Illuminations began in the daylight, with many of our attendees drawn down to the beach by Central Pier to capture the stunning sunset before gathering by the pier’s entrance to begin the night. The weather held up, with clear skies not getting too chilly.
