This season 2017-18 has seen a change to some of the rules regarding competition entries. The L&CPU standard sizing has been increased to 1200px by 1600px for digital images, which we have also adopted. In addition to this, and after the success we had last season with the Seasonal PDI competitions, there have been some changes to the number of entries per competition.
This article will cover the notable changes to the rules. For the full rules please read the competition rules listed on the Downloads page.
Seasonal PDI Competitions
For our 3 seasonal PDI competitions there are two groups; beginners and advanced workers.
The beginner group will have an open category, and may have up to 4 images entered per author.
The advanced group will have 4 categories; General Colour, Monochrome, Nature, and a Set Subject. Each author may enter up to 5 images, with no more than 2 images in any one category.
All PDI images must be submitted in JPEG format, and must be resized to fit within 1200 pixels tall and 1600 pixels wide.
Seasonal Print Competitions
For our seasonal print competitions both beginners and advanced workers will judged together. There are 3 categories; General Colour, Monochrome and Nature. Each author may enter up to 6 prints, with no more than 3 prints in any one category.
All prints must be mounted on a stiff piece of card. The minimum size for a mounted print is 21cm x 30cm. The maximum size is 40cm x 50cm and 4mm thick. (Note: only mounted prints of this size will be accepted for inclusion in external L&CPU competitions.) Prints behind glass or in a frame are not accepted.
Other Digital Competitions
Throughout the season we also hold a small number of other competitions, open to both beginner and advanced workers. These competitions are typically PDI competitions, requiring images to be sized appropriately as above. Please note that each of these competitions specify their own rules regarding categories and number of entries.
